The Cotton On Group has announced that it has become a member of the Action Collaboration Transformation (ACT) foundation as it looks to ensure an ethical process for its supply chain.

The ACT requires members to sign a memorandum of understanding that aims to achieve living wages for workers across the global textile and garment industry supply chains.

In a statement, the Cotton On Group said it was committed to ensuring that its supply chain was fair and equitable as it looked towards securing decent working conditions for all individuals within the group's operations.

It also highlighted the need to commit to long-term solutions including the establishment of industry-wide collective bargaining to change the way wages and working conditions are set across the fashion industry.

Other partners within the ACT foundation include Asos, H&M, Kmart Australia, Next and Target alongside a number of other international retailers.

Cotton On Group group sustainability and ethical sourcing manager Sonya Rand said the group saw immense benefits in working with the foundation to attempt to transform the garment and textile industry.

“At the Cotton On Group, we believe that there are no losers when it comes to securing fair working conditions for every person within the garment and textile industry.

“When we work collaboratively with our peers to achieve this, everybody wins.”
