Mirvac Retail is set to launch a new nanny service for parents across two of its shopping centres, with plans to roll the service out nationwide by 2019.

Shopping Nanny will be the first of its kind in Australia, offering a personal, complimentary nanny for customers after extensive research showed demand from shoppers.

Australian childcare service Lullaby Nanny Share will provid carers as part of Mirvac’s national centre loyalty program Mums & Co.

Customers at Rhodes Waterside NSW and Kawana Shoppingworld QLD will now be able to book up to two hours of complimentary childcare.

Parents can also choose whether the nanny accompanies them whilst they shop, or entertains the child in a designated play area on site.

The concept was designed by Mirvac’s innovation program, Hatch, and was initially trialled at Rhodes Waterside and proved to be an immediate success.

Customer feedback indicated that the ability to shop stress-free, try on clothes in the changing rooms and enjoy a coffee with friends were their top reasons for enjoying the service.

Being able to have the nanny accompany them whilst they shopped was also a key benefit, with over 60% of those trialled choosing this option when using Shopper Nanny.

Group general manager of Innovation Teresa Giuffrida said the the service is the result of feedback.

"We actively sought feedback from our customers and extensively tested this concept before implementing, so we know this is a service our customers will love."
