Mirvac, ParcelPoint and The Iconic have joined forces to launch a revolutionary first for the Australian retail industry.

The trio have teamed to bring the concept of 'The Collection Bar' to life at at Broadway Shopping Centre – an initiative which is set to “revolutionise the relationship between online and bricks-and-mortar retailers”.

From today, The Collection Bar will enable customers to collect, try on and return online purchases at a dedicated collection point within Broadway Shopping Centre, a service not currently being offered at any other shopping centre across Australia.

Using ParcelPoint’s 'Click & Collect' and 'Easy Returns' technology, the new service gives customers the option of collecting online purchases from a collection point in the centre, eliminating the frustrations of missed deliveries.

The new service also includes changing rooms so shoppers can try items on and return on the spot if unsuitable.

In addition, shoppers can also use The Collection Bar to return online purchases from 50 other retailers using ParcelPoint’s 'Easy Returns' service.

The service was launched on the back of research by ParcelPoint, which revealed that:

  • Two-thirds of online shoppers regularly miss a delivery

  • 64 per cent of online shoppers are frustrated by courier calling cards

  • 60 per cent have problems receiving personal online deliveries at work

  • 53 per cent don't want parcels left on their doorstep

Commenting on the initiative, ParcelPoint CEO and co-founder Mehdi Fassaie said the company is dedicated to providing online delivery and returns options that suit their customers' lifestyles.

“This is the future of retail,” Fassaie said.

Mirvac Shopping Centres general manager Justine Hughes said The Collection Bar is set to change the shopping experience as we know it.

“Innovation is a key part of our strategy to continue to deliver solutions that improve the shopping experience and drive new customers into the Centre. Our customers are extremely tech-savvy and most currently shop online.

“The Collection Bar not only responds to their needs but also creates increased traffic to the centre to benefit our retailers. We are delighted to be the first in the country to offer this service.”

The Collection Bar will be located next to the customer service desk on level 1. It will be open from 8am to 8pm every day and 8am to 9pm on Thursdays.
