Mambo artist and creative director Nathan Sheahan has ridden waves and designed artwork and merchandise to support the fashion brand’s ongoing partnership with fundraising organisation SurfAid.

At the fourth annual Melbourne SurfAid Cup on Friday last week, Sheahan’s artwork and merchandise were worn by all participating teams.

Sheahan has been creative director of Mambo under Caprice Australia since November 2020 and has been with the brand since 2019.

Mambo joined in the surfing event to raise $6,000 towards SurfAid’s $50,000 goal, with Sheahan surfing alongside Mambo junior pro surfer Ronan Ball and elite surf coach and ocean lifeguard Blake Thornton.

“I'm thrilled to be representing Mambo once again at the iconic SurfAid Cup, contributing to SurfAid's essential work and advocating for its distinct mission,” Thornton said.

“Last year, we had an epic team of riders, and I’m stoked for the chance to defend our title in 2024.”

Funds raised at the event will go towards SurfAid initiatives across Indonesia and the Solomon Islands, including providing access to basic necessities such as healthcare, clean water, and food security.

“This is an opportunity to turn a truly epic day of surfing at the most sought-after waves in Australia at URBNSURF into a year of support for our partner communities,” SurfAid head of partnerships and donors Claire Stafford said. “Our geographical focus is on the heartlands of surfing, where few visitors but surfers go.

“We give these communities the best chance of succeeding by designing sustainable programs to deliver access to healthcare, clean water and sanitation, and improved nutrition.”

This year's competition saw Mambo competing alongside other brands and businesses such as Rip Curl and Amazon Web Services.
