Mercedes-Benz Fashion Festival Brisbane (MBFFB) will be introducing a new initiative this year, allowing visitors to connect with designers in a completely different way.

The event recently made a triumphant comeback after funding woes forced it to temporarily shutter.

Its new 'Shop the Runway Market' will invite guests to head backstage after each group show and and browse the racks, giving shoppers an opportunity to order products on the spot.

The purpose behind the new concept is to allow guests a new way of interacting with local designers, besides viewing their designs on the catwalk.

MBFFB director Lindsay Bennett said she was excited to introduce the new initiative to the program, citing the important role it will play in giving designers greater consumer reach.

"Mercedes-Benz Fashion Festival Brisbane has always been about giving a platform to Queensland designers, helping them reach new audiences and encouraging show-goers to support local businesses.

"Our new Shop the Runway market will really help designers and fashion lovers connect in a new way, and I’m excited to see the positive results that come from it.”

The Shop the Runway market will be held in the foyer at Old Government House, and will be open to ticketholders following each Group Show.

MBFFB runs from August 27 through to August 31.
