The retail force behind fashion footwear empire Nine West has revealed plans to significantly boost his new brand's presence in Australia.

Vince Camuto, the co-founder of fashion footwear brand Nine West, is preparing to establish a retail network in Australia for his latest venture, after testing the market earlier this year.

Camuto, who also operates fashion company Camuto Group, launched his eponymous New York shoe label in 2005, and released the line in Australia for the first time in February, via a tie-up with major department store, Myer.

Following the success of its initial debut, across 20 Myer stores nationally, Camuto has now confirmed plans to launch his first full range and debut retail store on Chapel Street in Melbourne this month.

Currently a limited range stocked exclusively in Myer, spring 2012 will see the release of the first full Vince Camuto collection via his boutique which will also stock Jessica Simpson’s footwear range and the BCBG footwear brand.

The developments also follow the launch of the Vince Camuto online store this season.

The Vince Camuto spring 2012 collection aims to represent three key upcoming spring trends – ‘hippie chic’, ‘tribal’ and ‘new metal hardware’, in a variety of unique colours and materials.

As previously reported in Ragtrader [April 2012], Vince Camuto brand manager Melinda Chan said the brand also has plan to expand its retail network further once the initial local retail rollout begins.

According to Chan, the rollout will commence with three stores, set to open in time for the spring 2012 season, with plans for more over the next three years, and a goal to have 15 stand-alone stores Australia-wide within three years.
