Michael Hill has announced a strategic realignment of its senior management for the Australian market with the company splitting regional operations between two retail general managers.

In a statement, the group said that the split came after the expansion of the Michael Hill brand to over 170 stores across Australia and the recent closure of 24 Emma & Roe stores following a review of the brand's strategic direction.

The news comes following the announcement of Michael Hill's same store sales for Q3 down 0.3% to $238 million. The Emma & Roe brand also struggled in the quarter, seeing a 5.4% decline in same store sales to $8.9 million.

The group has announced that Tishara Mina, who currently holds the position of Emma & Roe general manager, will take on the management of six regions across Australia while also continuing to lead Emma & Roe on an interim basis.

Current Michael Hill retail general manager Kevin Stock will retain management of seven Michael Hill Australia regions as part of the organisational re-structure.

The company has also revealed that it will shortly commence a search for a Chief People Officer (CPO) as part of its strategic planning process and will see further re-adjustment upon the CPO's appointment.
