Hoka Australia has secured a five-year principal partnership of the ‘Hoka Runaway Sydney Half Marathon’.

For the first time since inception in 1992, the event has sold out with more than 19,500 runners scheduled to take part in the race this year.

Runner numbers are up from 13,000 in 2023 and with more than 75% of runners competing for the first time.

“Hoka is incredibly proud of our five-year partnership with the Runway Sydney Half Marathon as we look to celebrate the joy of movement with the community,” Hoka ANZ marketing manager Molly Rugg said.

“The Hoka Runaway Sydney Half Marathon is a truly unique city run, with the best of Sydney’s streets and stunning views. We look forward to welcoming runners and movers of all types to the biggest edition of the event in history.”

This year’s course is expected to wind around Sydney harbour and through Pyrmont, with runners then heading along the Harbour Bridge, over the Cahill Expressway with views of the Opera House and through the Royal Botanical Gardens before crossing the finish line.

The Ironman Group VP of global partnership APAC Jeremy Kann welcomed the partnership with Hoka.

“The Hoka Runaway Sydney Half Marathon is an iconic event in Sydney, bringing thousands to the streets of the CBD each year and we’re thrilled to have the event sold out in 2024,” Kann said.

“We’re really excited to have this long-term partnership in place with Hoka and look forward to working closely with the team to achieve the goals of both organisations, and also inspire people to take to the streets and get involved with this great event.”

Hoka is managed by Australian footwear conglomerate Accent Group in the Australian market. It was founded in France as Hoka One One (pronounced Hoe-ka).
