Australian department store Harris Scarfe has secured its first sports sponsorship with AFL Women's League team Adelaide Crows.

Harris Scarfe branding will be displayed on the back of the women's team guernsey, team apparel and major assets.

The retailer will also execute match day engagement, activations and collaborations with the Adelaide Football Club as part of the sponsorship.

Harris Scarfe GM of marketing Simon Burrett believes the partnership marks a milestone for the retailer and will allow the company to tap into a wider consumer base.

“The sponsorship will allow us to connect with our Harris Scarfe customers and new customers in engaging and stimulating ways.

“We will be creating and delivering robust collaborations with the Adelaide Crows’ Women’s team, as we continue to evolve and build our brand offering, product expansion and new-look stores.”

Backed by global retail mogul Pepkor, Burrett has confirmed the retailer is tapping into regional markets as part of an aggressive growth strategy.

“We’re opening new stores and welcoming new customers in places like Cairns and Mackay in Queensland, Orange and Erina (NSW), but we’re also investing in refurbishing stores in Melbourne and in our heartland state of South Australia.

“It’s a great business with an exciting future.”

Harris Scarfe was founded in South Australia and has been in operation for around 160 years.

It has a store network of 55 across Australia.
