PVH Corp-owned brand Tommy Hilfiger is calling on Australian entrepreneurs and consumers to get involved in the third-annual Tommy Hilfiger Fashion Frontier Challenge.
The program aims to support entrepreneurial start-up and scale-up businesses that develop solutions that make a positive social impact on the fashion landscape, and for the first time this year, consumers are invited to take part in the judging process.
This year, the program is focusing on amplifying the businesses of black, indigenous and people of colour (BIPOC) entrepreneurs.
Speaking on the program, Tommy Hilfiger said that the Challenge helps to drive further diversity and inclusion in the fashion industry.
"The Tommy Hilfiger Fashion Frontier Challenge puts a spotlight on entrepreneurs putting their heart and soul into making a positive social impact in our industry.
"This year, we want to showcase an even more diverse range of perspectives, ideas and communities by supporting BIPOC entrepreneurs.
"We have a responsibility to drive change across the fashion landscape, and I am honoured to further our commitment to inclusivity and equal representation through the upcoming Tommy Hilfiger Fashion Frontier Challenge," he said.
Interested businesses are invited to submit project proposals that focus on creating a more inclusive fashion value-chain.
Six finalists will have the opportunity to develop their projects virtually, with the support of Tommy Hilfiger experts, as well as external experts and a pitch coach.
The finalists will then present their final concepts to a jury panel and audience at the final Tommy Hilfiger Fashion Frontier Challenge event, to be held in early 2022.
Winners will take away a range of prizes to further their business and idea, with winnings including:
- A total of €200,000 awarded between winners and a chance at an additional €15,000 prize for winning the 'Audience Favourite Vote'
- A year-long mentorship with global Tommy Hilfiger’s internal experts
- A place on the INSEAD Social Entrepreneurship Program (ISEP)
- A year-long INSEAD mentorship
In the meantime, Tommy Hilfiger is inviting Aussie consumers to be involved in the judging process, helping to determine the finalists.
Consumer judges will be tasked with narrowing down finalists from 200 to 50, with each being sent at least four applications to judge via the brand’s online microsite.
"While the fashion industry has taken positive steps towards becoming more inclusive and diverse, there is still more to be done," added Tommy Hilfiger Global CEO Martijn Hagman.
"Through the Tommy Hilfiger Fashion Frontier Challenge, we are furthering our commitment towards representation and diversity and helping drive the changes we most want, and need, to see," he said.
Businesses looking to enter the challenge have until March 08 to apply, while applications to become a consumer judge close on February 08 2021.
Since its inception in 2018, the Tommy Hilfiger Fashion Frontier Challenge has awarded €350,000 to entrepreneurs.
