A former production staffer for Lee Mathews and Bassike Alanna Camilleri has launched her own luxury label Selfe Studios.

The ready-to-wear label has been launched with one clear objective in mind: to slow down the fashion cycle.

To achieve this aim, the brand will release new collections at a slower pace and uses 100% natural fabrics sourced from European mills.

All trims and fastenings are also sourced from Japanese suppliers and where possible, are made from recycled materials. Each sew-in label is also made from natural cotton fibres and recycled card stock.

In a statement, Selfe Studios said that Camilleri was driven to start the brand because of her committment to sustainable fashion.

"Alanna grew uneasy about brands who weren’t willing or ready to ‘make things better’.

"Her commitment to conscious designs, sustainable materials and supporting local craftspeople powered her to start the label.

"We practice conscious designing, creating luxury garments made with longevity in mind.

"From the modern yet clean aesthetic, high quality fabrics and beautiful artistry, we ensure each garment is made to last."

All of Selfe Studios' pieces are designed and manufactured in Sydney.

The brand's debut collection is now available on the Selfe Studios website and retails for between $280-$590.
