Former Billabong CEO Matthew Perrin will be seeking a release from prison on bail as his legal team work toward an appeal against his recent sentence.

The 44-year-old intends to appeal the three charges of fraud and six of forgery citing grounds for the verdicts were unsafe and unsatisfactory.

Perrin is currently serving an eight year prison sentence after being found guilty late last year.

Perrin's crimes included the forging his ex-wife's signature to defraud the Commonwealth Bank of $13.5 million.
