KeilanaSkye has become Australia's first established leather fashion brand to restructure its product lines to become ethical and cruelty free.
Founder and designer Candy Maaka-Stoten has been creating high-end footwear using various leathers since launching the brand.
She said the change has been a long time coming.
"I started eating an organic and vegan diet three years ago and really wanted KeilanaSkye to follow suit.
"I wanted to rebrand back then, but it was a decision that had to be executed correctly and over time.
"Throughout this time, I have been able to learn about alternative, eco materials, as my specialty was with leather.
"I was also able to find new manufacturers, who I have been liaising with over the past year."
Now operating under KSKYE, KSKYE is an eco-vegan fashion label, specialising in unisex eyewear and fashion footwear for men and women.
KSKYE Eyewear is designed using eco materials such as sustainable woods and bamboo, upcycled woods, eco-dyes, eco-glues, with minimal use of metal.
KSKYE Footwear is also designed using eco-vegan and upcycled materials and will be released as Part II, in 2015.
"Rebranding has been a huge and costly task," Maaka-Stoten said.
"But my heavy use of leather was something I was not proud of and now my designs reflect my ethics and my way of life.
"Eco-fashion needs to look good and that’s what I’m aiming to do with KSKYE."
