David Jones is giving its new owners bang for buck - trading ahead of expectations.
South African parent company Woolworths Holdings has reported that David Jones sales increased by 11.2% for the half year to December.
Sales in comparable stores jumped 9.7% while adjusted profit after tax was $60 million.
In a market update, Woolworths said the results are ahead of both the department store and specialty clothing sector.
Sister company Country Road also recorded 13.4% Australian sales growth.
