This time next year, Australian designers could have premium selling space in China.
Department store David Jones unveiled a special showcase of Chinese designer brands at an exclusive cocktail reception yesterday.
The Lunar New Year Designer Collection includes 16 designer collections spanning apparel and accessories.
The collections will be on sale at a special pop-up store On Seven at David Jones, Sydney, until February 18.
David Jones pre-bought the collections in confidence of the cutting-edge designers.
The initiative is a joint venture between David Jones and the Australian China Fashion Alliance (ACFA).
Speaking at the reception, ACFA head Timothy Coghlan said he is working on a reciprocal opportunity for Australian designers.
"This time next year, we could see them at a major department store in China."
