Australian fashion brands are rallying to help the homeless.

Social enterprise HoMie will open a pop-up store in Melbourne Central Shopping Centre next Monday – with a little help from its friends.

For every transaction made in store, the company has promised it will donate an item of clothing to a person experiencing homelessness.

It will be selling its own branded merchandise and clothing, as well donations from prolific brands such as Snow Gum, Cotton On, Trend Clothing and Boomerang Exchange.

Target as also committed to fitting out the store for free.

In addition to the pop-up, HoMie has set out to launch a 'welcoming space' for Melbourne's homeless community that will provide complimentary haircuts and workshops that will focus on increasing employability.

HoMie is an initiative of charity group 'Homeless of Melbourne'.

The charity's co-founder Nick Pearce said that the concept will be a force for positive change in the community.

“After hearing the stories of the homeless community, we felt compelled to do more to help. HoMie will provide much needed funds and clothes for the homeless community.”

Melbourne Central general manager Leigh Dunn also supports the initiative.

“Melbourne Central is proud to support initiatives that give back to the community and that is a key part of the culture at Melbourne Central.

“We look forward to seeing HoMie make a real difference to the homeless community of Melbourne.”
HoMie will launch its pop-up store on Monday June 29th.
