After 33 years of service to the Sportsgirl/Sussan Group, retail stalwart Barry Barron has announced his retirement as Group chief operating officer.
Barron joined the Group from Woolworths South Africa as CFO and was later appointed Sportsgirl GM for five years before assuming the Group COO position in 2005.
Sussan Group CEO and industry stalwart Naomi Milgrom praised his contribution.
“The Sportsgirl/Sussan Group is grateful for Barry’s longstanding dedication and significant contribution to the company over the past 33 years. We wish him all the best in his retirement."
Reflecting on his successful career with the Group Barry thanked the team.
“Being part of the Sportsgirl/Sussan Group culture has been inspirational and I have enjoyed every moment of my retail career with the company.
"I am grateful to Naomi Milgrom for her leadership and to all my colleagues for their support. I am delighted to accept a position on the Group Advisory Board going forward.”
In retirement he looks forward to spending more time with his family and pursuing a number of interests including more overseas travel.
Target merchandise GM Jamie Kristow as been appointed as the new Group COO for the Sportsgirl/Sussan Group and commences in March.
