International fashion giants Uniqlo and Asos, both trading in Australia, have recorded strong growth in their international business.

Uniqlo International has reported a 44.6% cent rise in profit for the first quarter of its latest fiscal year – the three months to November 30.

While international revenue subsided 0.2% to ¥196.5 billion (AU$2.3 billion) for the period, this was attributed to its stronger currency which pushed down yen-based sales by an average 16%.

In local currencies, sales rose overall with Oceania, Southeast Asia Asia and Greater China contributing profit.

Online fashion retailer Asos also recorded strong growth leading to December, with a 36% rise in sales for the four months to December 31.

Sales for the period were £605.7 million (AUD$972.18 million), with international sales growing 52% to £361.7 million.

While US sales were the fastest growing business area, local campaigns also contributed to record trading numbers.

In an interview with Ragtrader magazine in December, Asos country manager Carly Cazzolli revealed Click Frenzy as a major success.

"On launch day, we were the top performing country beating the UK, US and France."
