The Iconic has opened its 8000sqm expanded fulfilment centre, dubbed Yennora 2.

The site is located next to the retailer's existing site in South West Sydney and increases the inventory capacity by 1.55 million units, taking The Iconic's total capacity to 3.75 million units.

This new site cements it as Australia's largest online fashion fulfilment centre (FC), with one of the largest mezzanines and pick towers in the Southern Hemisphere.

After the opening of the expansion, The Iconic’s FC space will span a 28,000sqm footprint with 46,000sqm fulfilment space. The Yennora 2 expansion offers an additional 8,000sqm across two levels, with an additional 20km of shelving across 130,000 unique locations.

In 2018 The Iconic introduced automation to its fulfilment processes which has seen fulfilment capacity increase by 40% allowing orders to be fulfilled in 10 minutes. The Yennora 2 expansion means the retailer's FC operations can satisfy over 50,000 customers per day.

The Iconic COO Anna Lee said that the expansion sets the business up for continued success in the future.

"We are incredibly proud to officially announce the launch of our expanded FC as we prepare to kickstart 2020.

"Our investment into our Yennora 2 and ASRS expansion means we now have the largest FC in the country with an inventory and fulfilment capacity set to support our growing and future customer demand.

"Our customers are at the heart of everything we do, and we’re thrilled to start 2020 with an unrivalled brand and product assortment, and industry-leading on-time delivery offering both now and into the future," she said.

Despite now having the largest online fashion FC in the country, The Iconic is working to increase its fulfilment capabilities in a sustainable manner, with the business working to achieve the following goals by 2020-2022:

  • 100% recyclable shipping packaging
  • 70% of The Iconic's private label poly bags made from recycled plastic
  • 80% of energy from green sources
  • Installation of warehouse solar in 2020, and fully operational by 2022
  • 100% carbon offset of The Iconic’s operations and deliveries
  • Complete installation of LED lighting in the FC
  • Transition to green providers for all energy needs
  • Make available to customers a zero or low emission delivery option

The Iconic CEO Erica Berchtold said the business is thrilled to start 2020 with this new facility.

"We have had an absolutely incredible year at The Iconic - from the launch of The Iconic Considered, releasing our inaugural Annual Progress Report, to hosting our first Brand Partner conference and celebrating summer at our most inclusive runway yet.

"I couldn’t think of a better way to welcome 2020 than by announcing the expansion of our Yennora FC.

"This expansion has been an incredible two-year process and I’m so proud of our team and partners for building the best retail operations centre across Australia and New Zealand.

"The Iconic is the future of retail and we can’t wait to start the New Year with a bang," she said.
