Accent Group has unveiled its new Hype DC Canberra store.

Announcing the store opening on LinkedIn, the business said that the store had relocated, was triple the size of its predecessor and was ready to trade.

The opening of the new Canberra store follows the opening of the business' first sport and lifestyle store, Pivot, in Shellharbour.

The new store also follows Accent's reopening of its entire store network following the COVID-19 shutdown.

Speaking to Ragtrader about the early feedback on reopening the stores, Accent Group CDO Mark Teperson said that while it is good to be back open, the foot traffic is still inconsistent.

"It's still patchy and inconsistent so there are some malls which are busy with foot traffic but not necessarily busy with consumers.

"Some of the more regional malls and strip stores have improved at a faster rate than the traditional CBD or metro areas and I think that goes down to largely the offices are still closed and people are spending most of their time [at home].

"We've done a lot of work around protecting the health and safety of our team and customers," he adds.

"We've got sanitisation stations in every single store, we provide try-on, disposable socks, there are gloves available for customers and masks for those that want them, to try and make people feel more comfortable," he said.
