Kathmandu Holdings has announced that today will be Group CEO Xavier Simonet's last day with the company.

Simonet leaves the outdoor retailer after five and a half years to pursue a career in the public sector as the CEO of Austrade, as announced in November 2020.

During his tenure, Simonet oversaw significant changes and growth at the business, including; the acquisition of Rip Curl and Obozbecoming the first outdoor and equipment retailer in ANZ to become B Corp certified; international expansion; and, continued sales growth in digital and retail channels.

Speaking on his decision in November, Simonet said that he was thankful for the support of the business as he takes up his new role.

"I have had an awesome time at Kathmandu Holdings, where I have spent the last five immensely exciting years.

"The Group has great brands, passionate teams and strong values.

"I am very grateful to our teams, to the Board of Directors, to our shareholders and to my chairman, David Kirk, for their support," he said.

After Xavier’s departure, his executive team will report to chairman David Kirk in the period before a new Group CEO begins.
