UPDATE: Fashion label Zambesi has launched its international e-commerce site in a move to boost global awareness of the New Zealand-based brand.
The site, www.zambesistore.com, created by Auckland-based e-retailing and integration company Solutionists, is fully integrated with the label's point of sale system Retail Pro.
As reported exclusively on Ragtader.com.au in March this year, the global site is part of a larger strategy by the brand to expand its international reach, which currently includes exports to Australasia, the UK, the USA, France, Japan and Russia.
The e-boutique features the entire menswear and womenswear Zambesi collections, as well as imported brands also sold in general Zambesi stores.
The website look and feel was designed by Zambesi themselves, based off best practise layout suggestions from Solutionists. James Gilbert of Solutionists said the Zambesi website also “required several custom features which would achieve the objectives of accurately representing the Zambesi brand online”.
Several of these custom features include:
-
Full integration with Zambesi’s point of sale system Retail Pro – product, stock, pricing, customers and images are automatically uploaded into the website as they are updated in Zambesi’s point of sale
-
Priority store fulfilment – Upon order the Zambesi website calculates which store has the stock levels to fulfil the order. Based on priority this store will be emailed automatically instructing the staff to send the order to head office
-
Tumblr integration – As Zambesi were already running a Tumblr blog, Solutionists integrated this into the website, adding Facebook “like” and Twitter buttons to each post (which link back to the site)
-
Coming Soon/Out of Stock – If a product is “out of stock” or “coming soon” the product will still be loaded automatically onto the website and the appropriate message will display automatically based off stock status. If a product is “coming soon” a customer can add it to their “want list” and be notified via email automatically when it comes in stock
-
Product image swap out – When a user selects a product colour, all product images swap out to display only the images for that colour
In March, Zambesi managing director Neville Findaly revealed to Ragtrader that the e-boutique will also offer a special order service, where customers will be able to order specific garments online even if they are not available at the time and have them delivered within a short period.
