Sportsgirl has revealed its 2019 Love Your Body Week scrunchie collection as part of its partnership with The Butterfly Foundation.

The partnership, which is now in its 13th year, has seen Sportsgirl donate $3.4 million to date to The Butterfly Foundation from the proceeds of sales in store.

In 2018 the donations asissted the Foundation reach and educate 156,340 young people about body image through the national Love Your Body Week schools campaign.

This year, Sportsgirl has commissioned four female Australian artists to create designs for the limited-edition 'wearable art' scrunchie collection with all proceeds going to The Butterfly Foundation.

Sportsgirl CEO Colleen Callander said that the partnership aligns perfectly with the Sportsgirl ethos.

"Body confidence and mental wellbeing are at the epicentre of Sportsgirl’s brand ethos and it is with great pride that Sportsgirl enter its 13th year of supporting The Butterfly Foundation.

"This year we encourage our customers to be a ‘voice for change’ and take The Butterfly Foundation 2019 survey."

The Body Esteem Survey collects responses from Australians in relation to their body esteem and will be open for the entire month of September. The Butterfly Foundation hopes to increase the participant count to 10,000, empowering Australians to be a voice for change.

The Butterfly Foundation CEO Kevin Barrow said that the results of the 2018 survey were abundantly clear and that Australians' perceptions of their bodies needs to change.

"The results of last year’s survey into the perceptions of our bodies and how this impacts on day to day life were very clear – the conversations we have about our appearance must change.

"As a result of last year’s survey, we reached more than six million Australians with positive messaging on online media, reached an estimated 155,000+ students through Love Your Body Week for schools, and had 682 downloads of positive resources to share.

"We also worked with Sportsgirl and Instagram to launch ‘own your feed’ to encourage safe and respectful social media engagement.

"This Love Your Body Week we have a bold goal of 10,000 participants to this year’s national survey, calling on Australians to be a #voiceforchange.

"We know from last year’s survey that we are placing immense pressure on ourselves to look a certain way and often make negative comparisons to others.

"With 10,000 voices we can really start to make a difference to the way we talk about ourselves and our bodies, and to help reduce the risk factors of developing an eating disorder or body image issues," he said.

Sportsgirl's Love Your Body Week scrunchies will retail for $7 at all Sportsgirl stores in Australia as well as online.

Love Your Body Week runs nationally from September 02-08.
