In a bid to help promote local fashion designers a new online concept has been launched by The Old Scholar.
The Adelaide-based company will be supporting up-and-coming designers by manufacturing their collections, distributing them to stores and assisting them with the selling process.
The aim is that the designers, who pay a minimal monthly fee, will begin to establish a name for themselves in the fashion world and they will also receive 100 per cent of the wholesale price.
As well as promoting and selling the wares of local fashion designers, The Old Scholar will sell womenswear, menswear, accessories, shoes, bags, underwear and a selection of vintage fashion.
Operations manager and fashion buyer for The Old Scholar, Micaela Nantes, said her love for fashion and personal drive to excel in this industry is what led her to work on the new concept.
“We wanted to bring something fresh and exciting to the world of online shopping,” Nantes said.
“The Old Scholar will set a new standard in the fashion scene by not only offering highly desirable current pieces, but also vintage finds that people generally don’t have the time to scout for but are always seeking.”
She said they will endeavour to help aspiring designers achieve their goals and they plan to focus heavily on building an interactive web platform, via blogging and Facebook, to give customers a more personal experience.
The blog will have photos of Adelaide’s fashionable ‘Street Scholars,’ a trend watch and tips on how to wear specific items.
It will also stock a mix of Australian fast fashion labels such as Finders Keepers, Sunny Girl, Lolitta, and Minty Meets Munt, as well as renowned international labels Belle Noel, Low Love, and Wildfox Couture.
Manufacturing takes place in Thailand, India, China and Australia and The Old Scholar is also one of few online fashion stores to sell new Sydney menswear label, Das Monk.
