"One piece of advice is pay the people you work with, suppliers included, before you pay yourself," Toni Maticevski tells us exclusively in our December issue.
"If you have their back, they will have yours."
Now the designer has been recognised for his own supply efforts, taking out Designer of The Year at Myer's annual supplier awards.
The awards recognise brands, merchandisers, designers and other partners of the department store.
Myer CEO Richard Umbers congratulated Maticesvki on his win.
"Toni Maticevski is internationally acclaimed, with well-deserved global recognition for pushing the traditional concepts of fashion and design.
"He is this year’s Australian Fashion Laureate and his fashion-forward creations are shining stars in our local designer range."
Maticevski said he was honoured to be named ‘Designer of the Year’.
“Myer is going through such an exciting change, and it makes me proud to be part of the Myer family.
"I’m delighted that Myer customers are enjoying my creations and I look forward to continuing to bring them my new collections.”
Other major fashion industry winners included Accent Group, PVH Brands, Stage II, Anya Trading, Range Engineering & Development, Luxottica and Rodd & Gunn.
