Local designer brand Shakuhachi has made a strategic move to satisfy customer demand and capture a new market.

The label, which currently runs one store and an e-boutique, has now launched a pop-up store on Gould Street in Bondi Beach in a bid to increase its customer base ahead of further developments.

The store will trade until January 29 and sell Shakuhachi's latest collections, including the label's summer range 2011/2012 and the Cruise line, which will total over 180 different styles with full size runs.

Designer Jessie White said the decision to open up a pop-up store also came from a desire to boost the brand's presence in the Eastern suburbs.

“The reason behind Shakuhachi launching a pop-up store in Bondi is to bring brand awareness back to the area. Shakuhachi has their concept store in Paddington, NSW and an online e-boutique,” she said.

“However, the Shakuhachi has only had one stockist in the Bondi Beach area, and with increasing demand for access to the brand in Bondi, I felt it was only fitting to boost the brand there over summer.”

The move to raise brand awareness for Shakuhachi also comes ahead of the launch of the brand's own candle range which launches this week. The debut collection will include a range of Shakuhachi crafted scents including sandalwood & vanilla, gardenia, and champagne & strawberries.

“The launch of Shakuhachi candle range is fast approaching. This will give customer the opportunity to purchase the delightful smells that they have come to associate with the brand and their retail experience,” White said.

White revealed the brand is also on the verge of expanding its retail network further.

“Definitely, Shakuhachi is always looking out for the opportunity to launch more vertical stores all around Australia,” she said.
