Fashion savvy shoppers and more than 30 Australian clothing boutiques have joined a new web platform which launched this month.
Sydney resident Lara Petrou has created oneweardesigns.com which allows people to buy, sell or swap their pre-loved designer and high street clothing online.
As well as this the website lets boutiques, which may not have the cash or time to set up their own website, the opportunity to sell new apparel on the site under their own URL and store name.
More than 30 independent boutiques from across Sydney and Melbourne have joined oneweardesigns.com as well as at least 80 individuals.
“In this increasingly difficult time for bricks and mortar retailers, oneweardesigns.com is providing boutiques with another revenue channel.” Petrou said.
Boutiques selling new product on the site include Bebe, Alex Perry, Anaessia, and Kuku.
More than 1,000 fashion garments ere listed for the launch and some of the key pieces include collectors' items such as a Gucci dress from a 'fashion insider', that was purchased for $2,500, but is on sale at $490.
Shoppers can also get their hands on a Jimmy Choo dress for H&M, recent autumn/winter pieces from Manning Cartell and items from Toni Maticevski, Collette Dinnigan, Caravana, Rachel Gilbert and Karen Walker.
Petrou, who has a meeting set up with a PR guru from New York to discuss entering the American market, said other fashion insiders selling their items on the site include celebrity stylists, fashion editors, boutique owners and 'stylish women around town'.
Petrou, who has a background in accounts, said she came up with the idea after her and her friends began swapping their designer dresses.
She said as price points range from high to low it should appeal to all, from the stay-at-home mum to the modern working woman.
The pricing structure is set by the seller, as opposed to being auction based, so sales and purchases can take place quickly.
There is no sign up fees or percentage deduction from sales and items can be listed for as little as $1.50.
