Department store Myer is on the hunt for new digital partners as it ramps up online operations and continues to review and restructure the business.

As previously reported on ragtrader.com.au, the company recently announced that it will close its Tuggeranong store as part of a larger strategy. This will see under-performing stores slashed once leases are up, with Tuggeranong in the ACT and Forest Hill in Melbourne the first to close in 2012.

Myer today revealed that it will also work to streamline online operations, with plans to establish a panel of specialists, or one comprehensive provider, to assist in providing a range of services to deliver its omni-channel strategy.

According to a statement released this morning, the company is pursuing the best sourcing model for Myer from a broad range of service providers by seeking a fresh view of what the broader market has to offer.

The retailer is currently accepting expressions of interest, until January, for the provision of digital services required, however, Myer said the incumbent DT Digital will also be invited to be part of the process as a key existing digital partner.

The digital services required include social media, e-commerce (excluding hosting), digital advertising, web design and email marketing.

Myer group general manager marketing and brand development Megan Foster said this is an exciting opportunity for leading creative agencies and digital specialists to partner with Myer.

“Myer has a strategy in place to become a leading omni-channel retailer and we’re looking for the best and brightest to help implement this strategy,” she said.

“We see the digital and online space as a significant opportunity and we want partners to move forward with Myer, with the ultimate aim of providing a seamless customer experience across stores, online and mobile devices.”

Expressions of interest for one or more of the range of digital services required close on January 13, 2012. Go to: www.myer.com.au/eoi for more information.
