Sportsgirl collaborator Miss Unkon will soon add another component to its business as it prepares to take the brand global.

Miss Unkon, founded in 2009 by Australian designer Courtney Meyer, will launch its first e-commerce platform next month, marking a new stage of growth for the brand.

The brand has risen quickly through the ranks since its debut three years ago, and has since showcased collections at Rosemount Australian Fashion Week - now Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Australia - and partnered with Sportsgirl to create an exclusive capsule collection.

However, Miss Unkon managing director Nelson Lai said the brand is now looking to expand internationally, with an e-boutique the first step in a larger strategy.

“Shop.missunkon.com will launch in the first week of February as an e-commerce site which will be easy to navigate and a user-friendly shopping destination, offering consumers the full ranges in one location for the first time,” he said.

“The e-commerce online store has been the strategic plan for Miss Unkon since the brand's launch in 2009, however we held off to focus on getting our product right and on customer service. We feel it’s the right time now for the brand to launch its first online store after a few successful seasons under our belt, and our goal is to focus on international growth, so we have set-up our distribution centre to cater for international orders from launch.”

Lai said the store will launch with the brand's full summer 11/12 season, as well as a preview to the new winter 12 collection, and will also offer features including free shipping and a ‘no questions’ refund policy for “consumer-friendly shopping”.

Each collection comprises over 16 styles, and each will have its own individual look book, campaign imagery and behind-the-scenes shots on the site. Price points range from $120 to $400.

According to Lai the site will be the brand's main focus for some time now, but additional features are to be added in the coming months, with fresh projects also in the pipeline to strengthen its online presence.

“We have a lot of new and exciting features becoming available in the coming months, especially around Fashion week in May. We have no plans to open a Miss Unkon store this year as we are still focusing on developing our systems and processes, however, we are in talks to develop an ‘experiential’ creative space in late 2013,” he said.
