A price competitive designer brand will meet with a major retailer for the third time today, as it prepares to shake up the domestic denim market.
McQueens Denim staged an official media launch in Sydney last night, with product dropping into national retail stores from next week.
The brand, co-founded by Melbourne denim identities Andrew Kahofer and Nathan Brown, will also be available for purchase through a dedicated online store.
In an interview with ragtrader.com.au yesterday, Kahofer confirmed he would be meeting with streetwear chain Glue today for potential stockist opportunities.
This will mark the third meeting between the two parties, as Kahofer looks to balance boutique distribution with broader retail exposure.
Inspired by rock icon Steve McQueen, the launch collection includes seven jeans styles and three denim jackets priced at $99.95.
"Denim here is overpriced pure and simple," Kahofer told ragtrader.com.au.
"We're offering prices normally associated with vertical operators to the people but for product that looks great, is made from real quality fabric and has strong branding behind it."
While the initial drop contains men's options only, a women's line is scheduled to launch in May. Created using fabrics sourced from Japan and Hong Kong, McQueens Denim is manufactured in China with a locally produced, limited edition line also in the pipeline.
It will be available through Kahofer's Zeppelin Rose store in Melbourne, with prices on par with the mainline range.
The launch collection includes skinny, carrot slim, straight, relaxed, denim chino, twill stretch chino and weekender jeans as well as a slim jacket, denim blazer and railyard jacket.
Washes also range from classic, dark and raw to cleaner and more refined options.
