As Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Australia (MBFWA) 2012 prepares to kick off, ragtrader.com.au gives the definitive rundown on global and domestic buyers at the event.

Organiser IMG Fashion has revealed a 'curated' lineup of 65 international buyers, selected to ensure strong spending across the boutique, department store and etail categories.

These include Harvey Nichols, Joyce, Net-a-Porter, MyWardrobe, ShopBop, Beams and Moda Operandi.

Some 311 domestic buyers have also been locked in to attend with key delegates including Myer, David Jones, Alice Euphemia, Belinda & The Corner Shop, Frockshop, My Catwalk, The Dreamery and The Iconic.

US-based ShopBop executive Darcy Penick confirmed the etailer currently carries 23 domestic brands, with plans to discover new talent at the spring/summer 2012/13 shows.

"As a global online fashion boutique, we are committed to continually offering collections from new and emerging designers that are inspirational for our customer.

"We cover fashion weeks internationally, and have now been covering Australia for the past three years.

"We love finding items and collection to inspire our customer, and are excited to discover new talent while seeing what is new from the Australian designers we already know and love."

UK-based MyWardrobe, which now counts Australia as the number one market for international sales, will also hunt for new generation designers. Asia Pacific head Madeleine Allman said said this will tie in with plans to further build the brand's local profile.

"Key things my-wardrobe.com is looking for are designers with the x factor, who are ready and have the business structure in place to fulfill global demands and that resonates with the my-wardrobe.com brand ethos and price point."

The event will run from April 30 at Sydney's Overseas Passenger Terminal.
