A local online fashion expert has taken etailing to the next level with technology which allows shoppers to try garments online.
Miriam Koenig, who owns Sydney-based business Vitail, is launching online add-on application Bonn, which uses an augmented reality virtual mirror application to allow online shoppers to try on clothing and accessories from the comfort of their own home or office.
The technology, which uses image recognition and tracking software similar to an Xbox Kinetic, has been developed to operate on any computer or tablet with a webcam. Users can then get an accurate picture of how apparel will look and fit on them by standing in front of their computer and using their hands to interact with the software.
Koenig said this form of 'try before you buy' is set to be a game changer for online fashion shopping.
“The concept gives a richer experience for the online shopper,”she said.
“Not only can they try before they buy but they can upload photos from Bonn straight onto social networking sites such as Facebook and Twitter. This synergy will make a memorable experience for the consumer and their social network, giving brands the opportunity to promote their products past their web portal.”
Retailers can license the software application as a bolt-on to their existing e-commerce offering, with Vitail offering full support and cataloging of their existing stock.
Vitail is an Australian owned and operated company based in Sydney. Its offering includes a variety of augmented reality software developed for the retail industry, including Bonn.
