Australian retailer Jeanswest has found a way to combine up and coming digital advances with the traditional in-store environment.

At a time when technology is increasingly competing with the physical shopping experience, the leading brand has introduced the iDenim Match iPad application.

Jeanswest commissioned creative retail agency, the DDB Shop, to create a tool for aiding the in-store customer in their search for the perfect pair of jeans.

Based at Jeanswest's Melbourne central store, the on screen app helps customers who may be struggling to choose from such a large range, and allows them to view products from all angles.

Managing director of the DDB Shop, Andrew Williams, said the app not only guides the purchaser to their ideal pair of jeans through occasion, style, specialty fits and wash choices, but it shows shoppers what they will look like in an interactive way.

“The iDenim Match app brings the jeans to life from every conceivable angle and zoom level,” Williams said.

“This helps navigate customers through what can otherwise be a daunting task.”

Jeanswest is one of the first Australian companies to successfully embrace the emergence of digital and use it to the advantage of attracting in-store traffic.

The iDenim Match app recently won the Favourite Website Awards 'mobile of the day' honour and the 'best digital design' prize at the annual Melbourne Advertising and Design Club Awards.

General manager of marketing for Jeanswest, Belinda Waller, said customers appreciate the opportunity to compare prices and products at their fingerprints by using the new app, while also being able to call on a sales assistant for any extra help or advice.
