Footwear brand Blundstone has partnered with the Museum of Old and New Art to create a limited-edition boot marking the museum's 10th anniversary.
The partnership between Blundstone and Mona started in 2017, when the brands first came together for that year’s Dark Mofo festival.
The new limited-edition boots, available for pre-order exclusively from Mona, feature the museum’s quintessential logo through the elastic gusset as well as embroidered on the heel.
The boots feature a black leather upper, underfoot cushioning and durable outsole.
Blundstone joint CEO Adam Blake welcomed the partnership.
“Being a heritage brand Blundstone knows a thing or two about marking significant milestones.
"A partnership between a 150 year old business and a ten year old one seemed testament to Mona’s Old and New credo. A fresh take on our original Chelsea design, this boot is a work of art.”
Mona co-CEO Mark Wilsdon echoed that statement.
“Over the last ten years, I've seen countless visitors walk their Blunnie-clad feet up Mona's 99 steps, through our mirrored doors and along our semi-subterranean tunnels.
"What better way to celebrate our anniversary by collaborating with this fellow Tasmanian icon. We look forward to spotting the Mona x Blundstone boot on many more visitors to come.”
Pre-orders for the item close February.
The move comes as Blundstone records a fourfold increase in eCommerce sales over the last 12 months, with a 30% increase in its retail network.
