After 10 years in the fitness industry as a gym instructor, Alana Clarkson knew how much she and other women hated having to work out with wet patches.
It inspired Clarkson, founder of new activewear brand Idea Athletic, to develop designs featuring an Australian innovation-patented technology to stop wet patches getting in the way of a solid workout
“I think it’s important to say that sweating is a very normal part of working out, going for a walk in the sun - it’s just a part of life” says Clarkson.
“That said, no one likes having those wet patches where sweat seems to accumulate on their bust, bum or crotch.
"It makes you feel uncomfortable and, if you’re like me, you’ll then spend the rest of your workout or walk worrying whether people think you’ve wet yourself.”
Idea Athletic pieces feature Australian innovation-patented sweat-absorbing bamboo lining throughout the bust, crotch and rear panels called invisiSweat.
The range includes crops, tights and intimates made from four-way stretch Lycra in a range of colours.
“We knew we needed a unique design with features and fabrics that were both completely invisible from the outside, but also didn’t feel bulky to wear,” says Clarkson.
“We dedicated more than two years to researching and testing fabric to find the best combination that would defy sweat and be comfortable.
“As a fitness instructor, I worked out of the gym that was in a hot warehouse for a few years. Everyone would be dripping - there was no way you were going grocery shopping after a session there! That’s where the idea stemmed from.”
Idea Athletic’s designs also feature extra-durable seams and stitching, sculpting fits, and phone pockets.
The brand has also designed an invisiSweat intimates range.
