An iconic designer brand with hundreds of stores globally is preparing to make its first retail footprint in Australia.

Marc Cain will officially open a flagship store next Thursday, prompted by strong wholesale growth across its main line and sports collections.

The Double Bay (Sydney) site is a retail first for the brand, with no plans to roll out stores across the country.

Marc Cain, managed locally by Style HQ, is currently available through luxury multi-brand boutiques nationally.

Marc Cain brand manager and wholesale executive Meg Ashpole believes the latest venture will lead to growth in all areas of the business.

"Having been extremely passionate about Marc Cain since its introduction to the Australian market in 2009, I am very excited that Style HQ has been able to open the first flagship store in Australia.

"I believe it will bring a lot more brand awareness for the product for both the public and our wholesale accounts. Not only will it offer a wide variety of Marc Cain styles and looks it will also be a good window for the product in general."

Style HQ National marketing manager Carys Elliot confirmed the brand will look to grow product in conjunction with clients in Australia and New Zealand.

Marc Cain Collections retail from $159 for basics to $2500 for leather garments.

Meanwhile, Marc Cain Sports retails from $149 for basics to $1600 for winter puffas, gillets and coats.

“The arrival of Marc Cain’s first flagship boutique in harbour-side Double Bay is an exciting development for Sydney shoppers wanting high-end, high quality international collections offered in a beautiful setting," Elliot said.

"Australian consumers in this segment are sophisticated; they travel globally and demand top quality from their designer purchases. With cutting edge manufacturing techniques, luxurious fabrication and attention to detail Marc Cain achieves the perfect fusion of style and comfort for this market, and its colour and print is perfectly suited to our Australian aesthetic."

The German-based company has 127 stores, 243 shop-in-shops and more than 1460 specialised shops globally, with a sales volume of 210 Euros in 2011.
