An international childrenswear etailer is scouting for domestic brands, as it plans to localise its offer and tap into increased online spending by Australian consumers.
UK-based AlexandAlexa.com has identified Australia as one of its fastest growing international markets.
Founder and CEO Alex Theophanous said the designer childrenswear etailer is planning to grow this base through localised campaigns including currency options, free shipping and returns and offering local brands.
Theophanous recently visited the market in order to identify brands key to this audience.
"I think there is a real opportunity within the Australian marketplace, as the customer base is so diverse.
"We can bring convenience to shoppers living and working in the busiest of cities, which are stretched for time and would hugely benefit from the ease of being able to quickly access and browse the best kids brands in one place.
"On the flip side of this, we also aim to appeal to the rural customer, who wants access to these brands in some of the remotest locations in Australia.
"These customers are benefiting from the same choice, shopping experience and service as if they lived in the heart of a huge city shopping hub."
Theophanous said the company is looking at working with a retail partner to strengthen its presence, which could even include working with a localised store.
"Our competition is the same as any global retailer, and we would identify stores such as David Jones and Myer in the Australian market, sitting in similar competition to Selfridges and Harrods in the UK."
Brands stocked by the etailer include Marni, Missoni, Burberry, Boss and Antik Batik.
