Cotton On has partnered with Yolŋu surf-rock band King Stingray on a range of apparel and accessories, with further partnerships in the pipeline.
The range, launching today, has been designed in collaboration with the band and features hand-drawn graphics across tees, jumpers and hats.
This exclusive Cotton On and King Stingray collaboration, with artwork designed by King Stingray band member Roy’s partner, is made out of 100% organic cotton tees, bamboo buttons, and recycled polyester shorts.
Cotton On menswear GM Dominic Ralton confirmed the collaboration will be the first of many for the brand.
“We are proud and excited to announce this collaboration between Cotton On and King Stingray.
"Working with the band has been an honour, not only are they extremely talented and creative, they also hold great values.
“This collaboration is the beginning of many partnerships, supporting local youth music."
Band member Roy said the project allowed the band to extend its storytelling.
“It means a lot to us as it’s about working together for a sustainable future through celebrating culture and music.
“For us it’s about working together to share music, culture, to share stories, to pass on knowledge and to get our music out to the world.”
In August 2021, the group of five Yolŋu (Aboriginal of northeast Arnhem Land) and balanda (non-Indigenous) musicians took out the title of the #1 Most Played Australian Track on Triple J with their song ‘Get Me Out’.
They are also in the process of releasing their new album on August 5.
All proceeds from sales up until August 23 will go towards supporting Australian First Nations projects.
