Spanish shoe brand Camper has launched its first "Camper Together" concept store in Australia, to celebrate a decade of trading in the country.
The brand, which celebrates its 10th anniversary of trading in Australia this year, recently invited Japanese designer Tokujin Yoshioka to transform its Queen Victoria Building Sydney store as part of the celebrations, with the finished work unveiled via VIP event last night.
The launch also marks the debut of the “Camper Together” concept in Australia – a project which sees Camper invite cutting-edge creatives to devise the interior of their stores – and is the fourth Camper store to open in Australia.
Yoshioka said his Sydney design emulates his previous work and and sees the Camper store revamped via “sleek white walls and floors, offset by a ‘petal’ strewn wall of pink and red fabric strips, with the Camper shoes displayed on white platforms”.
“The idea for this new Camper store is derived from the installation I presented in New York in 2007, where approximately 30,000 sheets of tissues covered the entire space to evoke a snowscape. Here, the red blossoms, which emphasise the corporate colour of the brand, are in full bloom in the store,” he said.
“The principle of Together stores is to have each different creator use his own methods to offer Camper new values. As a result, I thought about creating a new value by embracing its brand identity and the originality of my design.”
Camper also recently invested in the launch of an e-store to expand the brand's customer reach. The e-boutique began trading on August 1 and stocks the current collection of Camper shoes for men, women and children, with product shipped to destinations in a matter of days.
