SYDNEY: Menswear retailer Tarocash is stepping up its campaign to increase market share, unveiling plans to roll-out a new store fitout, logos and a spate of new stores in Australia, New Zealand and South Africa.
Managing director Stephen Leibowitz told Ragtrader the company planned to open at least 30 new stores throughout these regions by 2007.
Approximately 18 new stores are planned for Australia, and whilst reluctant to divulge too many details about the planned expansion, Leibowitz did reveal the company would be targeting selected states including South Australia, Victoria and Tasmania.
An additional six stores will open their doors in New Zealand from July onwards, with a further six or seven stores planned for South Africa.
The company, which opened its first store in Cape Town, South Africa in August last year, will open its second store in the region in March, followed by three stores in Port Elizabeth, Durbin and Johannesburg later in the year.
In further news, Tarocash has commissioned Sydney-based design consultancy firm Landini Associates to create a new look store fitout and company logo.
"We believe that any company who is serious about increasing their market share should constantly ensure that they reinvent themselves every five years or so," said Leibowitz.
"The new fitout is an evolution not a revolution [of the brand]. We have introduced warmth through the use of masculine colour schemes, carpeting in the change rooms and much more in store graphics and merchandising... We have many stores coming up for renewal with our last fitout so we want to ensure that this new design is ready for them."
The new look will be unveiled in a new site at Westfield Parramatta in March. A timeline for further store refurbishments was not available at the time of preson
