Stubbies - the long and short of it
Stubbies Australia is stepping up its campaign to be seen.
The enduring brand, endeared to all Australians for its men's shorts, has branched out into a new offering - high visibility work wear.
Made from Polyester micro mesh, poly cotton micro mesh and nylon ottomans, the new line comes with a recommended retail price of between $19.95 for short sleeve polos and $60 for padded jackets with reflective tape.
All garments in the range are compliant with Australian standards.
Stubbies business manager Robyn Gower said the new range, officially launched during the recent FASHION EXPOSED trade expo in Melbourne, was a natural progression from the brand's existing work wear offer.
"Most retailers need companies that have a full offer when it comes to the work wear market. Occupational Health & Safety (OHS) requirements dictate that hi visibility work wear must be worn for safety in the workplace and [it is] a necessary addition to our existing range."
Gower said the company's biggest competitor in the category was Basely, which it aimed to push for increased market share.
The move is the latest in a series of changes for the 33-year-old company which is seeking to cement its place among the ranks of the country's most sought after men's casual wear brands.
Having launched its now famous iconic short in 1972, the brand made its first foray away from short shorts when it launched its "Riggers" sports cargos in knit and woven canvas and cotton drills in the 1980s. Since then, the Pacific Brands-owned company has incorporated both knitted and woven pants, jackets, knitwear and school wear into its collections. It introduced work wear into the fold in March and has since branched out to include Australian-made polos into its stable in an attempt to promote "Buy Australia" and smaller and faster production times.
