NATIONAL: Eccentric ready-to-wear label Romance Was Born has continued to drive commercial opportunities, collaborating with jewellery giant Pandora on a national retail tour.
The two brands first partnered together during Rosemount Australian Fashion Week in May, creating a range of masks, gloves, neckpieces and headwear for the Romance Was Born runway show.
The pieces will now travel to Pandora stores nationally as part of a special retail installation program. It will debut at Pandora's Sydney QVB store on July 8, followed by Canberra Centre on July 16, Melbourne's Chadstone on July 24, Perth's Hay Street and Brisbane's Queen Street on August 13.
Speaking at industry seminar Higher Learning last month, Romance Was Born co-founder Luke Sales revealed the brand had recently taken on a business coach.
Known for its eccentric one-off creations, the brand has been injecting more commercial pieces into its seasonal collections while also collaborating on limited edition ranges. Romance Was Born also recently launched its own online store.
Sales said it had taken the brand five years – it was launched in 2005 – to reap the financial rewards of its reputation. High-profile clients include Cate Blanchett, Cyndi Lauper, Lilly Allen and Debbie Harry while stockists include Pretty Dog (Sydney), Alice Euphemia (Melbourne) and Subway DC (Perth).
