Depot Centre packs on the brands

Roger David, Lorna Jane and GlobalRAGS are among the latest high-profile retailers to sign on for Canberra's first factory outlet centre, Brand Depot. Executive Director Tom Snow is confident the centre is poised for success after its first stage of development was all but fully leased.
"With 37 tenants signed in the past four weeks alone, the leasing momentum is extremely strong," he confirmed. "This is a clear vote of confidence from some of Australia's best retailers."
Convinced the demand for space will be met, developers have offered a second stage of leasing for retailers with tenancies priced at $500 per square metre. The additional areas will cover 3700sq metres, bringing the total space up to 14,200sq metres.
"This will add dramatically to the critical mass of Brand Depot and represents a bonus for Canberra shoppers," Snow said. "Many of the retailers now taking up space at Brand Depot will be newcomers to the Canberra market."
Roger David is set to cater for mid-market male consumers with new label "RDX" which specialises in suits jacket and pants while Lorna Jane will specialise in a range of activewear and swimwear for women. GlobalRAGS, a Melbourne-based denim clearing house for labels such as Diesel, Ben Sherman, Lacoste and DKNY will also offer brands yet to enter the Canberra market.
"Brand Depot's strong retail mix matches our demographics," Snow said. "Our shoppers will be very attracted to the brands on offer. Brand Depot deliberately set out a long term marketing strategy that sought to differentiate itself from all other shopping centres in the ACT by signing top national retailers never before seen in Canberra. It is a strategy that has paid off."
The factory outlet centre is set to open its doors in August this year.
