Hussy owner reveals new Palais
The Hussy Clothing empire has expanded its reign with the official launch of Madame Marie, an "after five" womenswear label. While orders are still being finalised for the local market, international boutiques in Athens, Dubai, Miami and Singapore have confirmed their deals.
Founder and designer of the label, Marie Hatzis said the new range aims to build on the success of the Hussy brand.
"We looked at what was selling well in our Hussy stores and that was frocks. People came to us for dressy clothes. The philosophy behind Hussy was being able to carry day wear into the night time but with this label, it's specifically for after five, special events."
The debut collection, titled Palais of the Forbidden, includes a range of 13 dresses with beaded detail, ethnic embroidery, rainbow-coloured silk and nude chiffon wraps. Manufactured in Australia, India and Indonesia, the items are priced between $450 and $890 and target women who want "exclusive prints" and "gorgeous quality fabrics".
"It's for women who have a special occasion rather for than a particular age group," Hatzis confirmed. "Dresses are worn by anyone aged from 18 years of age to 50 and these are timeless, classic styles."
Aiming to spend the next year driving the success of the Hussy brand, Hatzis also hopes to expand the distribution and designs for the Madame Marie collection.
"For our launch, we wanted to focus on exclusive, beautiful dresses so we had a small tight capsule for our debut. Our next collection will be much broader and include beautiful, luxury fabrics for workwear."
The current range will be available in-stores in late September.
