Autumn is here and winter is fast approaching, meaning that footwear is currently acclimatising itself to cooler conditions.

To get an idea of what is to come for the chilly months, Shoe Trader tapped experts at Tony Bianco and Windsor Smith to get a feel for the trends for winter.

Tony Bianco: “You’ll see a lot of intricate stitch detailing and toe cap features.”

Western is a big focus. Our autumn|winter 19 (AW19) collection heavily features western-style silhouettes. From knee-high to ankle boots, you’ll see a lot of intricate stitch detailing and toe cap features.

Vinalyte (clear heels): this trend isn’t going anywhere fast. Our customer has really embraced this trend so, for the AW19 range, we made sure to deliver styles that speak to the trend.

Snake boots and animal prints continue to take force. [We'll] showcase croc-embossed leathers and natural snake patterns across our footwear and handbag range.

Sock knit boots: We’ve always had great success with our sock boot styles. They tie back to our brand’s heritage of simplistic modern designs and our customer really embraces this.

Kitten heels: Continuing on from our SS19 collection, we inject a diversity of heel heights.

We see kitten heels featuring heavily in street style and it’s a perfect option for women who want something dressier but not a stiletto.

For AW19 we feature many [transeasonal] kitten heel styles, injected into the range with pops of heron blue, mint green and red denver.

These trends are popular because they are giving the girl a reason to buy, anything that is new, fresh and exciting is driving sales.

Our customer is always looking for what’s next and we set out to inspire her. They are loving the newness and are willing to take risks on trend driven styles.

Windsor Smith: “The animal print is highly versatile and transeasonal.”

The biggest trend for Windsor Smith this winter is the animal print in beautiful croc and snake print leathers.

Inspired by timeless fashion, croc and snake prints were a prominent street style trend throughout the AW19 fashion week circuit across Europe and the US with many fashion “it” girls adopting this trend early on. Now having reached peak cult status, animal prints are a must have for the upcoming season!

The animal print is highly versatile and transeasonal which we have featured across both casual and dress styles in a range of neutral colours and of course timeless black.

For autumn party dressing we love the Gracia heel in sand snake contrasted with transparent perspex to give a barely there edge to any outfit.

For the cooler months we are obsessed with this print on the western inspired Tennessee boot for subtle style statement but you can’t go wrong with the wear anywhere Harper block heel boot.

Billini: "White is a massive trend, in particular white boots."

Jungle Fever! This being all things animal. Leopard prints continue through winter and into next summer but snake is the real power player. All different shades of snake will show face but in footwear a cream snake is really key this W19. Every fashionista will be donning a pair of snake boots!

We also see the introduction of blown out croc materials in footwear and accessories and this fabrication will be a key player for next summer.

White is also a massive trend, in particular white boots! This trend is so easy to style both casual and dressy.

The barely there heel is key for AW19. This means minimal and elegant strapping on a fine heeled shoe. This look will continue through to summer 19 in full force.

Key styles will be ankle boots in lower heeled heights and heels with Perspex fabrications.

Not only has every influencer and fashion icon been wearing snake and white boots on the streets so heavily though out winter in the northern hemisphere, naturally making them popular trend, but they are both so easy to wear with a broad wardrobe. Cream snake will coordinate with any colour and the white boots will add a pop to your outfit without being too dominating.

Perspex heels have been made popular by the famous Kardashian/Jenner girls of late and they are so easy to pair with anything as they will blend into your look.
