Zimmermann will temporarily close all Australian stores until at least April 8.
In a heartfelt statement to the market, the brand confirmed it has already closed sites across the US, UK and Europe.
"It is hard to contemplate the extent of this crisis and all the people it is impacting.
"We send our heartfelt thoughts to everyone as we all deal with the situation as best we can.
"For us, our stores are more than buildings that house our collections - they are the heart and soul of our brand."
The company said it would not wait for the Australian government to issue closures.
"In the absence of Australia's leaders reaching the conclusion that stores like ours should be temporarily closed, we have taken this step in the best interests of our team, clients and home country."
Zimmermann confirmed store staff would continue to be paid during the two week closure period.
eCommerce operations will continue to trade.
A later version of this story stated the stores had reopened. The Australian stores have been closed and Ragtrader apologises for the confusion.
