Toni Maticevski is set to take centre stage on March 12.

The designer has been selected for a solo runway show at Melbourne's Royal Exhibition Building.

The Virgin Australia Grand Showcase, Presented by marie claire, will see Maticevski present his 2020 collection.

Since launching his label in 1999, Maticevski has grown his portfolio from ready-to-wear to include a plethora of bespoke couture pieces.

Maticevski won the National Designer Award in 2002 and first presented as the Red Carpet Runway solo designer in 2012.

He welcomed his return to the Melbourne Fashion Festival in 2020 on his home ground.

"How amazing to be invited to showcase my collections at a place that I have lived, worked and built the foundation of my ideas and business.

"Back in 2012, when I first had the opportunity to showcase my archives, it was a special moment and a special show.

"I look forward to sharing my summer collection and a preview to the pre-fall and winter collections next March.”

Festival CEO Graeme Lewsey also welcomed the designer.

“Toni Maticevski’s work is an exhibition of creative and original Australian design, on which the foundation of the Festival was built.

"With his experimental approach, eschewing mainstream trends, Toni’s collections demonstrate somewhat of a creative utopia, and has continually shown how one can quietly achieve global success through a genuine talent and a dedicated approach to the fashion business.

"We welcome his return once again to the Festival in March 2020.”
