Amsterdam-based, family-operated swimwear brand Wallien has launched in Australia.

The brand uses sustainable materials and processes where possible and creates neoprene wetsuits made from limestone in a factory that is run entirely on hydropower.

The lycra swim styles also consist of 75% recycled materials, with the entire Wallien range produced in Europe, limiting transport pollution.

Wallien co-founder Olivier Wallien said that he and his sister Madeleine wanted to disrupt the design of swimwear.

"Women express their personality through clothing - at work, at the gym, going out - but in the water, you are often stuck with the standard dark colours and generic designs.

"Madeleine and I wanted to change that. We’ve created super comfortable products with unrivaled quality and bold designs.

"With Wallien, you can easily go from the beach to the bar while looking and feeling the part," he said.

The brand has set up an Australian website, with the current collection priced from $95-$249.
