What's forced Target Australia to defend itself for the second time?

The discount department store has again been faced with complaints around an intimate apparel campaign fronted by Gok Wan.

Complaints to the Advertising Standards Board (ASB) described the latest ad, where women's breasts are branded an "asset", as offensive.

One complainant argued such advertising should be aired after 8.30pm.

This is the second time the campaign series has faced backlash, following a commercial last year which referred to women's breasts as "bangers".

Target defended its decision to air the latest ad.

"The target market for the advertising is women and the main message is that the Target range of underwear is accessible to the Target customer.

"We consider the advertisement to be appropriate and in line with Target’s brand values."

The ASB again cleared the company of any wrongdoing.

“The Board considered that the word “assets” in relation to a woman's breasts is not language which most members of the community would find to be strong, obscene or inappropriate."
