The top ten most fashion conscious suburbs in Melbourne and Sydney have been revealed in a recent report from defin'd.

In Melbourne, Carlton was found to be the most fashionable suburb in metropolitan Melbourne followed by the Melbourne CBD, Southbank, Travancor and Parkville in the top five.

In Sydney, the top spot went to Haymarket with Rhodes, Chippendale, Ultimo and the Sydney CBD rounding out the top five for metropolitan Sydney.

The group identified as the most up to date with seasonal trends were described as "fashion forward females" comprised of women under the age of 35.

This group was found to be 1.5 times more likely to keep up with new fashions compared to the average Australian.

Defin'd spokesperson Stephen Lee said that the company hoped the data would allow retailers to get a better insight into their target markets.

"Until now, retailers could only see their target market through a narrow lens, but businesses can now get insights into the entire Australian population to identify their markets at a household level and how best to reach them."
